Live Review: Shinedown and Bush Light Up Ball Arena

“It’s Tuesday night Denver, is that all you got?”
Shinedown are an energetic band. So when vocalist Brent Smith walked out and sensed a lull at Denver’s Ball Arena this past week, he was quick to try and rouse the crowd.
From the moment they launched into opener “Dance, Kid, Dance,” the band were at full throttle. Making their way through 18 songs that were set against a backdrop of flames, strobes and video. Smith, guitarist Zach Myers and bassist Eric Bass immersed themselves among fans with the extended stage platforms that circled the floor. Giving everyone in the arena a good vantage point for the dynamic production.
Shinedown mix up their set list from city to city. A few highlights from the Denver stop included “Three Six Five,” “A Symphony of Being Human” and “Second Chance.” As well as a stripped down version of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” towards the end of the night.
Frontman Gavin Rossdale also made use of the extensive stage setup as Bush opened the show. He moved back and forth through the crowd while singing both nostalgic hits and a few new tracks from their latest studio release, I Beat Loneliness.
Positive vibes were his theme for the night as Rossdale talked about the uniting potential of music, the need for more connection between people and the value getting together with some good music as a way to deal with a stressful world.
