Legendary Techno-Trance Innovators JUNO REACTOR Release Long Awaited ‘JUNO REACTOR – THE MUTANT THEATRE’
Legendary electronic act JUNO REACTOR has released their ninth studio album, Juno Reactor – The Mutant Theatre via Metropolis Records today. Originally inspired by the 2016 Ozora Festival spectacle of the same name, THE MUTANT THEATRE has, over the past two years of its visual and auditory development, become a standard for live show theatrics and electronic music production.
Juno Reactor has also revealed a stunning 2 minute video clip of “Dakota,” written in collaboration with UnderCover, from The Mutant Theatre live show.
“Shot at a Live Show in London, England on February 23, 2018, ‘Dakota’ was inspired by the brave Water Protecters and Citizens holding the line at the Dakota Pipe Line Protests. ‘Dakota’ was also written with red hot Psy Trance group UnderCover, and the result is an intensified experience that rounds out the inspiration and visual performance adventure” – Ben Watkins
“I always wanted to have a big show, a Barbarella meets Pan’s Labyrinth tableau with a sci-fi edge, set to trance and psytrance music; a huge, Las Vegas-style spectacle for the eyes, ears, and imagination. We’ve staged The Mutant Theatre throughout Europe since that inception, and it has developed with each show. We’re so thrilled that we’ll finally be bringing the show to the home of its inspiration with a performance at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, at the internationally renown DEFCON no less, on August 11th.
‘Let’s Turn On,’ inspired by the 3000 LED, wifi controlled costume designed by Stigma’s (one of the dance troupes that comprise The Mutant Theatre) Sasha, is a trancification of my love for ’70s disco, a fusion of my musical style and tastes. I brought in Shpongle vocalist Michelle Adamson — I love her very British voice and the way she is a virtuoso with the TC Helican Voiceworks—to round out the song and play to that larger than life spectacle that I had imagined.” – Ben Watkins

Advance Praise for JUNO REACTOR – THE MUTANT THEATRE:
“The Mutant Theater is undoubtedly stunning. As each track has the constitution of a mighty heavy metal and with the conductive properties of one too. There are endless opportunities to go from passive listener to active dancer infused by the power of all that is lovely and dark. The Mutant Theater is an exciting journey resplendent in artificial but massively undiscovered colours; Inspired, the scope of this album is visionary and beyond pop art. 10/10”
– Soundscape Magazine
“Ben Watkins has long been one of the cornerstones of Goa trance, and has also dabbled in other styles, including contemporary pop, anime, and film soundtracks (Juno Reactor has composed music for ‘The Matrix’ series of movies and video games), symphonic music, and tribal folk. ‘Let’s Turn On’ will burn up the dancefloor, but with its interlocking riffs, sophisticated beats, and digital vocals, show it’s also a fabulous work of modern electro-pop.” – Essentially Pop
“From the back streets of London to Hollywood blockbusters of the Matrix, Juno Reactor’s story is ever evolving. Ben Watkins aka Juno Reactor is constantly exploring new areas visually and musically, evidenced by the new album The Mutant Theatre (also the name of the new live extravaganza). The Mutant Theatre is a resounding achievement from one of trance’s most innovative, pioneering artists.” – AlterNation
“Juno Reactor continue to innovate and their latest project is the stage show The Mutant Theatre, which will see an album release on 22 June via Metropolis Records entitled Juno Reactor – The Mutant Theatre. “Let’s Turn On” Is a thrilling number from the new album, and it features vocoder vocals underpinned by charging and bubbling, powerful synths. The new presses forward with forceful energy while it simultaneously mesmerizes. Juno Reactor haven’t lost a touch through the years, as “Let’s Turn It On” is an addicting number sure to pump you up.” – Sarah Zupko – PopMatters
