Alice Cooper – Mission Ballroom – Denver, CO
Alice Cooper has been doing his thing for nearly six decades. Which might explain why his shows are short and sweet (or perhaps scary) and to the point.
Denver’s Mission Ballroom was the latest stop for “The Godfather of Shock Rock” and all the things you’d expect were in full supply. An elaborate and shifting stage set, scary props, menacing dancers and of course, a makeshift guillotine. Alice does it up right. Both in his production and also with the solid musicians who join him on stage.
Many of his classic songs made it onto the set list including “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” “Welcome to My Nightmare” and “School’s Out.” But it was a timely performance of the “Elected”, complete with a podium and flags, that might have been the highlight of the night. He clearly had the crowd’s vote. Even after all this time.
