ORFIUM Set to Empower Musicians
It’s an often discussed tragedy that the digital revolution, while making it easier for fans to access music, ultimately all but destroyed the ability of emerging artists to make money. The new economy makes it so established platforms like SoundCloud, Apple Music, and Spotify define payout standards for monetization, ranging anywhere from 10-25%. And while artists like Taylor Swift and others have criticized these standards, no one’s really made it a point to challenge them, until now that is. Introducing ORFIUM, a new social music platform that looks to take the best attributes of the older platforms, reduce the issues (such as copyright challenges, etc.), re-empowering the artists’ control over their distribution, all while paying out and extraordinary 80% of monetization to artists and rights holders!
Orfium is a technology company striving to provide an open, elegant, and flexible music platform that puts artists and rights holders in control of all forms of promotion, retail, licensing, and distribution of music in the digital age, and to provide fans with the best discovery, sharing, and listening experience.
Having just launched yesterday, it’s too early to say for sure, but if Orfium fulfills the expectations they’ve set, we may be looking at the newest standards in the music industry, and it’s a welcome change for musicians and their fans!
