A few days before his show at Red Rocks Amphitheater, Marc Rebillet posted a screen shot of Denver’s forecast on his Instagram. The caption read “Let’s do this Colorado!”. The was his third time playing the venue in late October, and unlike the first two shows, this one was slated to be warm and dry.
An unseasonably balmy evening might explain why the “Loop Daddy” was sporting only a pair of boxer briefs and casual shoes. Unless you’re familiar with Rebillet, that is. Then you’d know the sparse attire was par for the course. Even if there had been six inches of snow on the ground, he’d likely be wearing the same thing.
Like years previous, he started his show standing in the middle of the crowd. This time from the sound board. The lights went down as a single spotlight illuminated an already enthusiastic Rebillet. After hopping down a handful of rows and onto the stage, he was off and running with a mix of antics and improvisations.
Audience participation is part and parcel of a Marc Rebillet show and this evening was no different. Several fans made it onto the stage, including a couple who had just been married the day before (and whose nuptials became inspiration for one of the songs). He recorded sound bites from other audience members. And was also joined by openers Reggie Watts and Flying Lotus for a collaborative song that might have been the highlight of the night.
